I love your piano! My mother wants a baby grand and I must admit it I want one too. Our piano is really old and it tunes to the key that they used to tune pianos to. So it can’t tune to the key that we use now, but I still like our piano. It sort of brightens the room. I’m glad I have music in my life.

For the few of us who are having trouble playing this, I have a possible solution. I have a PC running Windows 7 that had the Flash Player set to block sites from storing info.
Control Panel>System and Security>Flash Player. This opens the Flash Player Settings Manager. I then clicked the radio button to say ask permission and reloaded the blog page and the recording worked.

I’ll be honest, it didn’t do it for me! Thank you for sharing this, Adam. I just observed the anniversary of my mother’s passing 2 weeks ago, she died 7 years ago of cancer. Though this song is probably more about a romantic partner, it could refer to anyone, depending… Losing someone is not something one can get over easily. And like I said before in that long comment (blush) in one of your recent blogs, we don’t have to force ourselves to forget and we can take our time. Besides, by taking time I feel it enables us to nurture our strength and wisdom.

As i sit here next to my beloved laptop (this beauty helped me discover you, Adam) and listening to Fireflies on my Mp3 player, i recall how i first found about you.
One year ago, in violin practice, i sat in the dusty portable classroom that my violin teacher had transformed into the wonderful music room that it is now. She asked us to stop playing and started to give out a new sheet of music. At that time, i didn’t even know that there was an Adam Young. Or an Owl City, for that matter. At the to p, it said Fireflies. A few people started to jump up and down, making the portable shake. And i just sat there with that confused look on my face; i totally said this “What’s all the fuss? I don’t get it.” My teacher had an i-pod, thank goodness, and she put Fireflies on. I leaned against the table in the portable at Mistletoe School, and listened to the sweet song. I always know good talent when i hear it, and this was the best talent i had heard (besides my amazing dad, bass player) for a looooonnnngggg time. When i went home, i went straight to my mom’s laptop (i didn’t have my own then) ant opened it up. Straight to youtube i went, typing in “Owl City Fireflies”. I was amazed, i must tell you.
Since then, i have discovered many other beautiful songs by you, Adam. But Fireflies was the one that started it all. And here is yesterday’s story…(wow, i feel like a reporter…)
I sat there, after violin class. It was my third year, and the songs were getting harder. I had almost passed off Gavotte, the last song in the first book, and i was stressed. So what was my solution to this? I announced to whoever was there that i was going to listen to Fireflies. One girl came over and asked if she could have my other ear bud. I said sure, because i’m a nice person. And we sang a beautiful duet.
Just a week ago, i would never have done this. I’m a very shy singer, but your music has helped me gain confidence in myself. If i may add, my cheeks probably got a bit pink when everyone that was there stood and stared, but i kept on singing. Before, if i was caught singing, i would immediately stop the music and stop singing. But this time, i didn’t. And now i can sing my heart out triumphantly, because i can sing as loud as i want.
Thank you, Adam Young, for this wonderful gift. I have to say that i wouldn’t have done this without you and your music. Thank you, again.

Hey Adam. The cover is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Every time I hear you sing, it makes me feel something that I really can’t describe. And you are the only one that makes me feel this way. As of now, since august 2011(which was when I discovered you), I have been living to get to feel those feelings. Well, my life isn’t exactly going smooth and you are the one SAVES ME every single time. I’m so very thankful for my life for giving me a chance to know a beautiful soul like yours. I love how you incorporated your own style to this piece. It sounds a lot more nostalgic/melancholic than the original version (granted the original also has its merits as well or else you wouldn’t write a cover for it.)
The Steinway looks and sounds beautiful and there are some very lovely chords that serve as a backdrop to the lyrics.

literally, I feel so much when you sing. It’s beautiful. There’s so much power in your voice.. So much thought, so much feeling. I don’t know how you do it.. but you’re absolutely incredible. Every song you play and sing makes me feel so, cozy. But so sad at the same time. I don’t know how to put it.
With that being said.. I NEED this on my iPhone. Absolutely need it. If you don’t make it available for download I will come to your house, kidnap you, and bring you with me to sing it for me all the time.
